Mr. Matrugupta Mishra is the Managing Partner of Ritam Legal with over two decades of experience advising and representing clients in commercial disputes, arbitration, regulatory matters, and constitutional litigation. Enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi, he is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Delhi High Court Bar Association, and holds an LLM–MBA from National Law University, Jodhpur, and a BA LL.B. (Hons.) from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
His practice focuses on commercial litigation, regulatory practice, and arbitration, including complex contractual, concession, and infrastructure disputes, with substantial experience in constitutional and public law matters, as well as regulatory and advisory work across energy, infrastructure, mining, petroleum and natural gas, and competition law.
He regularly appears before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, NCLT/NCLAT, CCI, Trial Courts and Tribunals.
Beyond the power sector, Mr. Mishra’s expertise extends to petroleum & natural gas, competition law, mining law, constitutional law and corporate & commercial transactions. He has served as Lenders’ Legal Counsel on large-scale infrastructure finance deals exceeding USD 1 billion, steering transactions to successful financial closure for major thermal power projects. Additionally, he is well-versed in arbitration and alternate dispute resolution, representing clients in high-stakes commercial disputes and concession claims.
A cornerstone of Mr. Mishra’s practice is his expertise in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He has acted as a Counsel in several Arbitration matters for Environmental Management, Construction, and Infrastructure Companies. His notable work includes representing concessionaire against authority pertaining to claims of more than USD 140 million ensuing out of various violation of the terms and conditions of the concession agreement.
Mr. Mishra’s broad-ranging practice also covers corporate advisory, infrastructure consultancy and due diligence across various industries. He has drafted and vetted critical project documentation such as PPAs, EPC contracts, concession agreements, and more. While offering strategic guidance on project viability, regulatory compliance, and financing structures.
